Why surf in Fuerteventura?
Fuerteventura protrudes into the open Atlantic, intercepting powerful groundswells generated thousands of miles away in the North Atlantic. With over 150 kilometres of coastline and year-round water temperatures of 18°C–23°C, it is Europe's premier winter surf destination.
The North Track (Pista Norte), an unpaved coastal trail running between Corralejo and El Cotillo, provides access to dozens of breaks peeling over volcanic basalt shelves, framed by empty desert terrain and crystalline water.
What to expect
Morning surf check
Check wind and swell forecasts at sunrise, driving the coastal dirt track to inspect conditions across different reefs.
Paddling out into turquoise sets
Pull on a 3/2mm wetsuit and paddle out through natural channels in the volcanic rock onto peeling left and right waves.
Sunset in El Cotillo
Relive the day's best rides with fresh caught fish and cold drinks at a seafront tavern as the sun sinks into the sea.
