Castle Square and colourful reconstructed townhouses in Warsaw's Old Town

In 60 seconds

Warsaw in 60 seconds

Completely rebuilt from rubble after wartime devastation, Poland's capital is a dynamic city where meticulous reconstruction meets glass-and-steel modernism. The Old Town was rebuilt brick by brick from paintings and photographs, which is why UNESCO lists it. Baroque palaces and cobbled lanes contrast with post-industrial nightlife in Praga, world-class museums of national resilience, and leafy royal parks. Give a morning to the Warsaw Uprising Museum and an afternoon to POLIN, the museum of Polish Jews, then cross the Vistula to Praga for its bars and murals. The Metro, trams and buses share one ticket, and the summer Chopin concerts in Łazienki Park on Sundays are free. Three days covers the city well.
