Krujë in 60 seconds

Clinging to the sheer cliffs of Mount Krujë overlooking the Adriatic plain, this historic citadel was the epicentre of fifteenth-century Albanian resistance against the Ottoman Empire. Led by national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, Krujë withstood three massive imperial sieges. Today, the restored fortress houses an evocative national museum designed by Pranvera Hoxha, while below lies one of the Balkans' finest wooden Ottoman bazaars, alive with woodcarvers, coppersmiths, and weavers of traditional wool kilims.
