Kotor in 60 seconds

Tucked at the secluded innermost corner of Europe's southernmost fjord-like bay, UNESCO-listed Kotor is an enclosed medieval jewel of Venetian maritime splendour. Towering limestone cliffs of Mount Lovćen rise almost vertically behind the fortified stone walls, which zigzag up the mountain to the precipitous San Giovanni Fortress 260 metres above the sea. Within the sea gate, narrow cobblestone alleys open into tranquil stone piazzas filled with historic stone palaces, Romanesque cathedrals, and resident cats lounging on polished flagstones.
