Glen Coe
Steep-sided glacial valley
Stop at the visitor centre, then walk beyond the road viewpoints.

In 60 seconds
Glen Coe is often reduced to a roadside photo, but its steep glacial valley deserves at least a half-day walk. Fort William provides rail links and a base for Lochaber, though the town itself is more practical than picturesque. Routes under Ben Nevis and into Glen Nevis range from easy valley paths to serious mountain days. Weather and daylight should choose the walk, not the other way around.
