Bieszczady Mountains in 60 seconds

Tucked into Poland's extreme south-eastern corner where borders meet Ukraine and Slovakia, the Bieszczady Mountains are Poland's wildest mountain escape. Renowned in national lore as the sanctuary to 'drop everything and run to the mountains', Bieszczady features distinct tree-less subalpine meadow ridges called połoniny rising above UNESCO-listed primeval Carpathian beech forests. With free-roaming bison, wolves, wooden Boyko Orthodox tserkvas, and one of Europe's darkest starry skies, it offers deep solitude.
